Director of Communications, Asia Pacific and Japan
to join our journey. We’re looking for someone who is accomplished, strategic, and dynamic communications leader. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for development and execution of integrated communications strategies that enhance Cognizant’s reputation, brand, and leadership across diverse markets within APJ. The Director will collaborate closely with regional and global teams, delivering impactful narratives and campaigns to internal and external audiences. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies to support Cognizant’s objectives across Asia Pacific and Japan, ensuring alignment with global priorities and messaging.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the President of APJ and regional leaders on communications opportunities, risks, and issues, providing strategic counsel on media relations, executive visibility, and crisis communications.
- Lead APJ regional media relations, cultivating strong relationships with journalists, influencers, and key stakeholders; oversee press releases, media interviews, and thought leadership activities.
- Drive the creation and localization of compelling content for diverse channels, including press releases, executive speeches, bylined articles, social media, and internal communications platforms.
- Partner with marketing, HR, sales and other cross-functional teams to amplify Cognizant’s brand and culture in the region.
- Manage and execute executive communications programs for regional leaders, including PR, internal communications and social media
- Monitor regional trends and potential issues related to the business, providing timely insights and risk mitigation strategies.
- Measure and report on the effectiveness of communications campaigns, continuously optimizing for impact and engagement.
- Ensure all communications adhere to Cognizant’s values, compliance standards, and brand guidelines.
- Coordinate with the EMEA and global communications teams to share best practices and support international initiatives.
- Manage a team, including coaching, mentoring and developing talent.
- Oversee PR agencies across the region, ensuring deliverable are met within budget.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
- 12+ years of professional experience in corporate communications, with significant exposure to the Asia Pacific and Japan region.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing communications strategies for multinational organizations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in one or more APJ regional languages is a strong advantage.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects, work cross-functionally, and influence senior leaders.
- Extensive experience in media relations, crisis communications, executive communications, and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong understanding of the cultural, political, and business landscapes across Asia Pacific and Japan.
- Agility in a fast-paced environment, with strong judgement, creativity, and results orientation.
- Experience with digital and social media communications.
- Willingness to travel as needed within the region.
