Job Summary We are looking for an experienced and innovative Head of Design to lead the design and development team in a manufacturing setup. The ideal candidate will be proficient in SolidWorks and responsible for overseeing product design, CAD modeling, and engineering documentation, while ensuring product functionality, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the design team using SolidWorks for 3D modeling, drafting, and simulations. Review and approve detailed mechanical designs, assemblies, and component drawings. Collaborate with production, R&D, quality, and procurement teams to ensure design feasibility and alignment with manufacturing capabilities. Drive design optimization for performance, cost, and manufacturability. Standardize design practices, drawing formats, and version control across projects. Conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with industry and customer standards. Mentor and train junior design engineers on SolidWorks best practices and engineering principles. Stay updated on latest CAD tools, materials, and design innovations relevant to the industry. Handle resource planning, project timelines, and deliverables within the design function. Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues during prototype or production stages. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical / Industrial / Product Design Engineering. 8–12 years of experience in product design and engineering in a manufacturing environment. Expertise in SolidWorks (3D modeling, assemblies, BOMs, drawings, simulation, and PDM tools). Strong understanding of manufacturing processes like sheet metal, machining, welding, and fabrication. Proven leadership skills and experience in managing design teams and multiple projects. Preferred Skills & Certifications Certification in SolidWorks (e.g., CSWP, CSWE). Knowledge of GD&T, DFMA, and relevant industry standards. Experience with ERP-integrated design documentation workflows.
