Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and Detail-Oriented Design Engineer with expertise in US Utility Scale Solar Projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for interpreting Project inputs, evaluating Engineering feasibility and developing 10% to 30% stage Development Engineering Design Packages and 10% to IFC stage Detailed Engineering Design Packages like SFLP, SLDs etc. This role involves working closely under the supervision of senior engineers to ensure accurate and efficient design processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize AutoCAD and PVcase to create Development/Detailed designs and drawings.
  • Knowledge with assigning Coordinate system using MAP3d and Export KMZ files using CAD Earth software.
  • Read and understand Project inputs for Dev/Det Engineering.
  • Estimate Cable Sizing and losses calculation.
  • Prepare Development engineering drawings that are sent out for Developers.
  • Prepare Detailed engineering drawings that are sent out for Construction.
  • Prepare development engineering drawings that are sent out for Developers.
  • Possess basic knowledge about PV Engineering BoQ and their applications in design.
  • Possess basic knowledge with Ashrae Data, NSRDB and ASCE websites.
  • Possess basic knowledge in Stand-alone and DC/AC Coupled BESS projects designing. 
  • Deep Knowledge on various System losses and shading scene creation in PVsyst.

Good to have:

  • Knowledge with Transect Software for obtaining Constraints in a Project Site.
  • Perform initial design sets using plant Predict.
  • Evaluation of String Sizing analysis in SAM.
  • Knowledge in Grounding Studies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Design Engineer or similar role for US based Utility scale Solar Projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVcase, PVsyst, SAM, Winigs, Ampcalc, Cymcap.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of GLNTS, drawing symbols, Solar BOQ and Electrical SLDs.
  • Excellent ability to read and interpret US ALTA Survey files, Hydrology and Topography inputs and client drawings.
  • Experience with NEC codes and standards.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
