Design and Engineering HOD

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership & Team Management

• Lead, mentor, and develop design, engineering, and R&D teams.
• Set departmental goals, KPIs, and performance standards.
• Conduct resource planning and ensure optimal staffing and skill mix.
• Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

2. Product Design & Development

• Oversee end-to-end design and engineering of new products, systems, or components.
• Manage concept design, detailed engineering, prototyping, testing, and validation.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety requirements, and design specifications.
• Drive adoption of modern design tools, CAD software, and engineering best practices.

3. Project Management

• Plan, execute, and monitor engineering projects within timelines and budgets.
• Allocate tasks and manage cross-functional project coordination with production, quality, procurement, and marketing.
• Review and approve engineering change requests (ECR/ECO) and technical documents.

4. Technical Expertise & Innovation

• Lead technical problem-solving, root cause analysis, and engineering improvement initiatives.
• Identify emerging technologies, materials, and design trends to enhance product performance.
• Guide R&D activities, prototype development, and new technology integration.

5. Quality, Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure all designs meet quality standards, reliability targets, and regulatory compliance.
• Conduct design reviews, DFMEA/PFMEA, and risk assessments.
• Define engineering processes, documentation standards, and revision control.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with manufacturing to ensure design manufacturability (DFM/DFA).
• Support procurement with technical inputs for vendor development and material selection.
• Provide engineering support to sales, marketing, and customer service teams.

7. Budget & Resource Control

• Manage departmental budget, tools, software licenses, equipment, and technology investments.
• Optimize costs through efficient design, standardization, and material selection.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹150,000.00 - ₹200,000.00 per month
