Deputy Manager - Buying (Menswear)

Range Planning & Product Development

• Plan, source, and select mens wear products across categories (apparel, outerwear, accessories, etc.) aligned with trend, customer demand, and business objectives.
• Work closely with design, merchandising, and marketing teams to create cohesive seasonal ranges.
• Identify new product opportunities and emerging trends to ensure JD remains a market leader in sports fashion.

Trading & Performance Analysis

• Review weekly sales reports and key metrics (sell-through, margin, stock turn).
• React quickly to performance data—adjust orders, rebuys, or markdowns as needed.
• Collaborate with merchandising to ensure optimum stock levels and store distribution.

Market Awareness & Competitor Analysis

• Conduct regular competitor store visits and online benchmarking.
• Stay up to date with market trends, customer insights, and seasonal fashion movements.
• Feed market intelligence into future range planning.

Team & Cross-Department Collaboration

• Work alongside Merchandisers, Allocators, and Designers to achieve department goals.
• Support the Junior Buyer/Buying Assistant in their development.
• Collaborate with marketing and e-commerce teams on campaign and launch planning.

Skills & Experience Required

• 3–5+ years’ experience in a fashion buying role (preferably menswear).
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance trend and performance.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Confident with data analysis and proficiency in Excel.
• Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Passion for fashion, streetwear, and sports trends.
