Deputy Dockmaster

Dock Operations Management (including dock block arrangement)

• Arrangement of Dock blocks in the dry dock basis the docking plan and build plan for ship repair and shipbuilding operations respectively.
• Assist the Head Dockmaster in planning and coordinating daily docking, undocking, and mooring activities, ensuring alignment with project schedules.
• Monitor vessel movement within the dock area, overseeing proper mooring, positioning, and securing of vessels to maintain stability and safety.
• Supervise dock operations staff, including the Supervisor (Mooring), to ensure accurate and safe handling of all docking-related tasks.
• Plan and execute docking/undocking procedures based on vessel specifications, dock conditions, and operational requirements.

Safety and Compliance

• Implement and enforce safety protocols for all dock operations, ensuring compliance with local and industry regulations.
• Conduct regular safety checks on dock equipment, lines, fenders, and support structures, addressing any risks or equipment issues promptly.
• Coordinate with the Safety and Compliance teams to conduct safety briefings, training sessions, and regular inspections for the dock team.
• Ensure regulatory compliance in all quality control activities, aligning with ISO 9001:2015 for quality management, ISO 45001:2018 for occupational health and safety, ISO 14001:2015 for environmental protection, and industry-specific product certification standards for shipbuilding/ Ship repair.
• Ensure multiple docking and multiple berthing of vessels in the yard is handled maintaining all the necessary safety considerations.

Resource Management and Optimization

• Manage the inventory of docking equipment, mooring lines, bollards, and related resources, ensuring availability and operational readiness.
• Monitor equipment usage and maintenance schedules, coordinating repairs or replacements to avoid operational disruptions.
• Identify areas for operational efficiency, recommending improvements to docking procedures, resource allocation, and personnel deployment.

Team Leadership and Development

• Lead and mentor the dock and mooring team, providing guidance, training, and support to enhance skill levels and operational knowledge.
• Assess team performance regularly, delivering feedback and implementing development plans to improve productivity and safety adherence.
• Promote a culture of teamwork, safety awareness, and proactive problem-solving among dock personnel.

Emergency Response

• Prepare for and manage emergency situations, including vessel distress, equipment failure, or extreme weather conditions, ensuring all actions comply with the emergency response plan.
• Conduct emergency response drills and training for dock staff to ensure readiness and effective response capabilities.
