Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role at Sai University, located in Chennai. The Dean will oversee the academic and administrative functions of the School, including curriculum development, faculty recruitment, research initiatives, and fostering industry collaborations. Responsibilities include ensuring the highest standards of teaching, research, and student engagement while providing leadership to faculty, staff, and students. The Dean will also drive strategic planning, promote interdisciplinary programs, and contribute to the overall vision and growth of the School. The Dean will lead the School in shaping innovative academic programs, fostering a strong research culture, and advancing partnerships with national and international institutions. This is a senior academic leadership role requiring strategic vision, academic credibility, and collaborative leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Law, from: NLSIU, NLU, NALSAR, NUJS, JMI, JNU, GNLU,BHU,AMU,IIT KGP or any university ranked within the Top 200 in the QS World University Rankings.
• At least 10 years of professional experience in academia or a relevant sector, including prior leadership roles. Must currently hold or be eligible for appointment as a Full Professor
• Proficiency in Core & Traditional Law Specializations; Corporate, Commercial & Financial Law; International, Comparative & Global Law; Technology, Innovation & Emerging Law; Public Policy, Governance & Interdisciplinary Law; Social Justice, Human Rights & Development Law; Dispute Resolution & Practice-Oriented Specializations; Legal Education, Research & Methodology etc.
• Demonstrated record of significant research contributions
• Successful mentoring of faculty researchers and doctoral students
• Securing competitive grants and leading funded research projects
• Strong academic leadership experience, including:
• Running or managing large departments/schools/centers
• Experience developing or revising academic programs
• Experience building research ecosystems, labs, or innovation initiatives
• Ability to build Partnerships, Collaborate with Industry, and Promote Community Engagement
• Outstanding Communication, Team Leadership, and Organizational Skills
• Commitment to Diversity, Inclusion, and Innovation in education and research

Roles and Responsibilities

The Dean will be expected to:

• Provide strategic leadership to the School’s academic and research agenda
• Recruit, mentor, and support faculty to pursue high-impact research
• Facilitate grant acquisition and interdisciplinary research collaborations
• Grow research centers, laboratories, and academic degree programs
• Foster industry partnerships, internships, and entrepreneurship pathways
• Promote student success, innovation, and experiential learning
• Strengthen global linkages and visiting faculty engagement
• Lead accreditations, rankings, budgeting, and school administration initiatives
