Role Summary

Dean – Engineering


Key Responsibilities

1. Academic Leadership

  • Provide strategic vision for Engineering programs (e.g., Computer Science , Data Science, Mechatronics depending on SSPU structure).
  • Lead curriculum development, ensuring alignment with industry skills, emerging technologies, and regulatory standards.
  • Promote innovation in teaching methods, skill model , and lab-based pedagogy.

2. Faculty & Staff Administration

  • Mentor, and evaluate faculty members across engineering disciplines.
  • Facilitate faculty development, research mentorship, and performance improvement.
  • Promote collaborative teaching and interdisciplinary projects.
  • Ensure the quality teaching &implementation of skills curriculum.

3. Research, Innovation & Publications

  • Strengthen research culture within the School of Engineering.
  • Encourage research grants, publications, patents, and collaborations with government and industry.
  • Oversee creation of research clusters, labs, and centers of excellence.



4. Industry Partnership & External Relations

  • Build partnerships with industry, research institutes, and international universities.
  • Facilitate internships, placements, guest lectures, and collaborative skill-based programs.
  • Engage with advisory boards for continuous curriculum and skill upgrades based on technological /advancements.

6. Administration & Governance

  • Oversee budgets, lab infrastructure, and resource planning for all engineering departments.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies (UGC, relevant councils, state regulations).
  • Represent the faculty of engineering in university committees, accreditation bodies, and audits.


Qualifications

Essential:

  • PhD in a Engineering discipline

    (Computer Science, Electronics etc.).
  • Minimum

    12–15 years of academic experience

    , including at least 5 to 8years in a leadership role (Dean /Associate Dean/Director)at University
  • Strong record of research,patents,publication &funded projects .

Desirable:

  • Experience in implementing skill-based or competency-based curriculum.
  • Experience with accreditation processes (IQAC ,NAAC, NBA, regulatory councils).
  • Proven leadership in establishing labs, research centers, or industry partnerships.
