Job Purpose
To co-ordinate and deliver Curriculum & Quality Assurance activities and to provide a range of administrative services to the students and staff of the Faculties in support of curriculum development, delivery and enhancement. This includes co-ordination of curriculum records management, the quality assurance processes set out in the University Quality Handbook including co-ordination of and administrative support for; Faculty governance committees, programme approval and review, annual monitoring, external examiner appointment and reporting, and student casework.
To work collaboratively with staff in Faculties and other professional services to review processes, share best practice and implement service improvements.
To work closely with specialist staff to ensure that the Faculty’s programme and module data is created and managed in accordance with approved definitions.
Key accountabilities/primary responsibilities
- To co-ordinate the operational delivery of Curriculum and Quality Assurance activities and to provide a range of administrative services to the students and staff of the faculties in support of curriculum development, delivery and enhancement, facilitating a team approach that manages the effective use of time and resources.
- To deploy a full understanding of the Quality Assurance policies and business processes that underpin key stages of programme administration and the Quality Assurance life cycle and their implications for programme and module data and student record keeping. This to include but is not restricted to; the development of new modules and programmes, the review and amendments of approved modules and programmes, appointment of external examiners and co-ordination of external reporting processes, support for Faculty committees and reviews by external accreditation bodies. This will require a sound knowledge of business needs and how these can be delivered within approved university frameworks.
- To work closely with academic departments, professional services and key stakeholders to develop and deliver effective management and administration of student casework at the University of Southampton Delhi, including academic appeals, student complaints, student discipline and academic responsibility and conduct cases.
- To implement new processes as they are developed through business change projects that will provide students and staff with improved services and engage in collaborative working with other staff to reach decisions together about improvements in student related services.
- To provide specialist advice to academic and professional services staff on areas of activity through briefings, presentations and attendance at working groups; and to lead on the presentation of operational issues that require staff to change how existing work is delivered. To ensure that committee servicing is provided for key faculty curriculum/quality committees.
- To work closely with colleagues to ensure that the organisation of programme and module data, student data and record keeping meets the needs of academic units in the faculties and is compliant with the definitions and regulations required by external statutory bodies. To monitor and report regularly on the quality of data in collaboration with the Student Records and Management Information Teams.
- To work collaboratively with staff dealing with other student related services, report regularly on service levels, routine financial expenditure, and use of resources within the activities delivered and ensure that peaks and troughs of work are co-ordinated and staff time is focused on institutional priorities.
- To attend Faculty/University committees/Process ownership Groups/working groups as requested by senior managers; to participate in the Graduation ceremonies with other University colleagues

Person Specification
Qualifications, knowledge and experience
- Skill level equivalent to achievement of Degree and other relevant qualifications.
- Significant experience of Higher Education structures and administration in posts that demonstrate the progressive acquisition of appropriate professional or specialist knowledge and progressively more demanding roles.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the processes and IT systems that support large scale data sets.
- Proven ability to appreciate Higher Education priorities and to apply these in managing work outcomes

- Proven experience in planning schedules of work against annual cycles; setting objectives, milestones and implementing regular reviews to evaluate progress.
- Proven ability to organise events and activities that deliver the required outputs.

- Keen eye for detail with ability to understand how operational delivery links to the wider policy frameworks and to identify the impact for resources and future planning.

- Ability to demonstrate an understanding of policy frameworks within the bigger institutional picture; how process development supports lateral management of activities across the workstream as a whole; engage in collecting ideas that support the development of new ways of thinking and solving long standing problems.
- Ability to collect complex data, analyse key findings and summarise recommendations for senior staff.
