- We're looking for someone with expert credit skills to ensure careful risk consideration when we make credit and lending decisions for our customers

What you'll do
As our Credit Officer, you’ll be working to maintain an effective management framework that helps us to identify, assess, manage and report credit risks. You’ll be making sure that the right customer and conduct outcomes are delivered in relation to our lending and credit policy, through overseeing and challenging policies and first line processes and controls.Throughout your role, you’ll be guiding and developing a team responsible for carrying out key credit-related activities as well as deliverables on a wide range of projects and tasks. You’ll make sure they’re supported in their role and you’ll provide coaching and feedback to help them achieve their objectives.You’ll also be:
- Overseeing and challenging action plans and governance in relation to compliance with our Credit policy, as well as aligning the Retail policy with our bank-wide policy
- Helping to review credit-related investigations and undertaking end-to-end policy reviews
- Providing feedback on the refinement, simplification and development of credit policies
- Overseeing activities across all business areas to ensure compliance with Retail Credit and business level policies
- Managing and reporting credit risk situations that have the potential to damage credit risk from a financial, reputational or regulatory perspective
The skills you'll need
We’re looking for someone with good knowledge of risk management and control processes in a financial services environment. You’ll be degree educated or hold an equivalent qualification, and you should also have a broad understanding of external regulations and their impact on a business.You’ll bring this all together with:
- Experience in credit risk management and an understanding of principles ,processes, retail, commercial banking and technology issues
- An external understanding of regulation applicable to mortgages and consumer credit
- The ability to analyse complex credit matters and identify material credit risk issues to simplify and create risk management solutions
- Detailed analysis, understanding of deal features and alternatives, challenge, presenting alternative options, escalation, RoCL proposals, policy clarification/interpretation
- Provide assurance of consistent and disciplined credit underwriting in line with risk appetite, with key risks identified
- Independently able to assess/ recommend/ approve Warehousing/repo/swap/bond purchase deals.
