Consultant - Ecology

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in habitat loss/gain calculations, Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments, and ecological impact evaluations.
• Support the use of digital tools (e.g., GIS, remote sensing, data visualization) to improve ecological deliverables.
• Contribute to the development of habitat mitigation and compensation plans under UK legislation.
• Prepare and review ecological reports such as Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA), BNG assessments, and Nature Conservation (NC) reports.
• Participate in internal knowledge sharing and collaborate with global ecology colleagues.
• Support proposal writing and other business development activities.
  

Key Competencies / Skills

Essential Skills

• Experience in ecological consultancy or conservation science, with familiarity with UK ecological standards and legislation.
• Competence in ecological data handling and interpretation.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong written communication skills for technical reporting.
• Working knowledge of GIS and spatial analysis tools.
• Good interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Problem-solving mindset and willingness to innovate.
• Understanding of European Protected Species and licensing basics.
• Exposure to biodiversity metrics and habitat condition assessments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic database tools.
  

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in Ecology, Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, or a related discipline.
• Having appropriate qualification from relevant UK institutions is an advantage
