Job Description

As a Global Category Manager for Measuring Instruments at Emerson, you will play a crucial role in developing and executing category strategies on a global scale. Your responsibilities will include: - Leading the category management of Measuring Instruments and related items to ensure alignment with business objectives and cost targets. - Developing a deep understanding of product cost structures to drive cost transparency and value engineering initiatives. - Conducting detailed should-cost analysis and developing cost models to support supplier negotiations. - Collaborating with various teams to influence design-to-cost strategies and optimize total cost of ownership. - Managing long-term contracts and pricing agreements, ensuring clarity in terms and deliverables. - Implementing global category strategies to drive cost savings and improve supplier performance. - Managing supplier relationships globally, including negotiations, cost savings, contract management, and performance evaluations. - Analyzing project funnels, selecting appropriate models for stocking plans, and providing projections to suppliers. - Leading the scouting, qualification, and development of new vendors based on changing business requirements. - Generating periodic supplier performance scorecards and reporting on category performance to senior leadership. - Conducting market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks within the category. - Continuously seeking ways to improve supplier manufacturing processes, capacity, and capabilities. - Staying updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices. - Contributing to the development and enhancement of internal guidelines and processes. To be successful in this role, you will need: - Minimum 5-7 years of proven experience in category management. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work with multiple stakeholders in a global matrix organization. - Proficiency in Should costing, MS Office applications, and ERP tools. - Ability to lead change and alignment on new concepts and approaches. - Strong negotiation and contract management skills. Preferred qualifications that will set you apart include: - Engineering Graduate in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering. - 15+ years of experience in Category Management, procurement, or supply chain.
