Commodity Buyer

Job Summary:

The Commodity Buyer is responsible for managing the procurement of assigned commodities and materials to support production and operations. This role involves developing sourcing strategies, negotiating with suppliers, ensuring material availability, and driving cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality and delivery performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Procurement Management:

  • Source, negotiate, and purchase assigned commodities (e.g., raw materials, components, packaging, etc.).
  • Manage purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and compliance with company policies.

• Supplier Management:

  • Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers to ensure reliable and cost-effective supply chains.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure continuous improvement in quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Monitor supplier performance through KPIs and corrective actions when required.

• Cost & Contract Negotiation:

  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to achieve cost savings and favorable terms.
  • Conduct cost analysis, benchmarking, and market trend monitoring for assigned commodities.

• Strategic Sourcing & Planning:

  • Develop and implement commodity strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, quality, finance, and production) to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Analyze market trends and risks affecting supply and pricing.

• Inventory & Logistics Support:

  • Coordinate with planning and logistics to optimize inventory levels and ensure continuity of supply.
  • Support initiatives to reduce lead times and streamline procurement processes.

• Compliance & Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, ethical standards, and relevant regulations.
  • Prepare regular reports on spend analysis, supplier performance, and savings achieved.
