Commodity Buyer

Role & responsibilities

The Commodity Buyer Copper & Aluminium is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for base metals (copper, aluminium, and related alloys) to ensure security of supply, cost competitiveness, and sustainability across all manufacturing locations. The role requires strong market intelligence, supplier management, contract negotiation, and risk mitigation expertise

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors/Master’s degree in Commerce, Finance, or Supply Chain with overall 8–12 years of relevant experience in commodity procurement and hedging.
• Strong understanding of commodity exchanges: LME, SHFE, CME
• Proficient in hedging instruments: forward contracts, options
• Develop and implement country specific category strategy for Copper & Aluminium in alignment with business goals.
• Conduct total cost of ownership (TCO) and value chain analysis.
• Identify and develop suppliers; ensure dual sourcing strategy.
• Benchmark pricing and negotiating long-term contracts by working with procurement team
• Knowledge on hedging provisions.
• Lead supplier qualification, performance evaluation, and development programs.
• Implement metal price hedging strategies with finance and treasury teams.
• Ensure compliance with import/export regulations and environmental laws.

Compliance Conditions

• Compliance with global trade regulations (DGFT, FEMA, Customs, REACH, RoHS, Conflict Minerals, and Anti-Bribery Acts).
• Contractual adherence NDAs, long-term supply agreements, hedging contracts, and confidentiality clauses.
• Anti-corruption & ethics compliance per companys Code of Conduct and OECD guidelines.
• Price adjustment clauses tied to LME indices, scrap recovery norms, and delivery lead times.
• Force Majeure & Termination rights clearly defined in supplier contracts.
• Environmental & Sustainability commitments (carbon footprint, recycling targets, ethical mining)
