will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting high‑quality dishes across the varied menu of Sailors’ Cafe. The role demands versatility (fast food to plated main course, desserts, beverages), consistency, high hygiene, creativity (menu innovation maybe), and ability to manage or coordinate the kitchen team. The Chef should also ensure food cost control and maintain food quality aligned with the cafe’s brand. --- Key Responsibilities Prepare and cook items from across the menu: burgers, pizzas, pastas, North Indian & Chinese mains, snacks / finger foods, desserts, sandwiches, soups etc. Ensure taste, portion size, plating, and presentation meet the cafe’s standards. Maintain consistency in food quality for both dine‑in and delivery/takeaway orders. Plan and execute daily/weekly prep work (mise en place) to ensure smooth service during peak hours. Assist in menu development/innovations / specials, adapting based on customer feedback and trends. Monitor kitchen hygiene: ensure cleanliness, safe food handling, storage, temperature controls. Manage inventory: ordering, stock rotation, minimizing waste, cost control. Supervising kitchen staff: line cooks, prep cooks; training, guidance, quality control. Work closely with front‑of‑house staff to ensure timely service; coordinate with service staff during busy hours. Maintain kitchen equipment, report maintenance needs, ensure safe operations. Assist in scheduling shifts in kitchen, ensure staffing coverage.
