Primary Purpose Of Job

Stantec is looking for a Lead Civil Engineer/Designer who can be a part of our growing team in our Pune office, contribute to the ongoing growth of Stantec ResourceNet Private India Ltd by providing technical expertise in specialist areas of land development, civil engineering and design. To be involved in the implementation and delivery of leading-edge programmes and projects.Support project managers/team leaders by providing technical expertise to ensure that project outcomes in terms of profit, schedule, technical and quality standards meet both the client and Stantec expectations.Design and documentation of projects under the instructions and guidance of a Project Engineer using Civil Engineering techniques utilizing software such as, but not limited to, Autodesk Civil3D AutoCAD, OpenRoads, and MicroStation in accordance with Client standards and procedures.

Key Accountabilities

  • Preparation of basic site layouts, general arrangement drawings, site grading, plans and profiles, cut and fill calculations, site servicing including water distribution, sanitary sewers, storm water management, shallow utilities, erosion & sediment control etc.
  • Understand design and drafting systems and standards and design development process followed by clients and implement in work
  • Assist senior engineers with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule
  • Provide design guidance and instruction to junior/intermediate designers
  • Travel offshore for training/on-site work: Occasionally
  • Regularly interact and engage with other members of the discipline
  • Build and develop a professional profile both internally and externally
  • Adherence to professional standards, ethics and Client quality procedures and standards
  • Design of projects under the instructions of a PL’s or Lead Engineer using Civil engineering software such as, but not limited to, Autodesk Civil3D, OpenRoads, Infraworks and AutoCAD
  • Execute project modelling & detailing services
  • Develop design skills and industry knowledge together with a consistent track record in performance
  • Assist in development of tools and constant improvement to procedures and standards
  • Attend project review meetings and ensure the provision of completed and reviewed drawings (self-verification checklists)
  • Develop a reputation for reliability and consistency
  • Invest conscious effort to develop effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Responsible for leading the land development/site civil team, resource management, training, project delivery, regional coordination

Person Specifications

  • BEng (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering with a minimum 15 years of relevant experience or a Diploma in Civil Engineering with minimum 18 years of relevant experience
  • Very good hands-on experience of Civil3D & AutoCAD 2D is must.
  • Knowledge of MicroStation/ OpenRoads / Infraworks / Revit / 12D will be preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam Revu
  • Knowledge of site civil infrastructure and utilities and modelling
  • Experience in preparing the GA and detailed drawings of land development projects including residential/commercial / industrial projects
  • General knowledge of construction techniques and practices
  • Knowledge and project experience of working and delivering in a BIM environment
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and use his/her initiative. Able to lead smaller tasks and manage the work of the team
  • Competent level of client service management, i.e., able to interact with clients and to build and maintain lasting, positive relationships
  • Capable of analyzing complex issues about projects and supporting the team lead in mitigating them in advance
  • Competent level of baseline skills, i.e., professional ethics, confident with the essential, basic business and communication skills that are required for career growth
  • Rigorous attention to detail, able to understand and adopt workflows and commitment to professional development
  • Flexible attitude to accepting different work assignments and pro-active attitude to execution/delivery
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of French language (oral/ written) would be an added advantage
  • Willing to work for different regions and willing to learn
  • Professionally accredited or on the verge of achieving
