Job Description

Job Title: Chinese Chef

Department: Kitchen / Food Production

Reports To: Executive Chef / Head Chef

Job Summary:

The Chinese Chef is responsible for preparing authentic Chinese cuisine, maintaining food quality and presentation standards, and ensuring kitchen hygiene and safety. The role requires expertise in Chinese cooking techniques, sauces, and ingredients, along with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook authentic Chinese dishes as per menu standards
Ensure consistent taste, quality, and presentation of all food items
Develop and improve Chinese menu items, sauces, and recipe
Coordinate with kitchen staff for smooth service operations
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of kitchen, equipment, and work areas
Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
Monitor food portioning and minimize wastage
Assist in inventory control and raw material requisition

Skills & Competencies:

Strong knowledge of Chinese cuisine (Indo-Chinese / Cantonese / Sichuan, etc.)
Expertise in Chinese cooking methods (wok, steaming, frying)
Ability to work under pressure during peak service hours
Good time management and organizational skills
Teamwork and communication skills

Qualifications & Experience:

Certificate / Diploma in Culinary Arts or relevant experience
Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a Chinese Chef
Experience in hotel or restaurant kitchens preferred
