Job Description

Business Development Manager (BDM) selling lab equipment to the pharmaceutical, agriculture, and food processing industries will be responsible for driving sales growth, identifying new market opportunities, and building long-term relationships with clients in these specialized sectors.

The role will require a strong blend of sales acumen , existing clientele and technical understanding of lab equipment and industry-specific needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Market Analysis and Strategy:

    Conduct thorough market research to identify new business opportunities, trends, and competitor activities within the pharmaceutical, agriculture, and food processing industries.
  • Lead Generation and Prospecting:

    Generate and qualify leads for potential clients, which include R&D labs, quality control departments, universities, research institutes, and manufacturing units of Pharmaceutical, Agriculture or Food processing industries.
  • Client Relationship Management:

    Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers and procurement teams.
  • Sales and Negotiation:

    Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve and exceed sales targets. This involves preparing and delivering presentations, proposals, and quotations, as well as negotiating contracts and closing deals.
  • Technical Consultation:

    Understand the technical specifications and applications of lab equipments (e.g., analytical instruments, testing machinery) to provide tailored solutions that address specific client needs and pain points.
  • Collaboration:

    Work closely with internal teams, including marketing (for lead generation campaigns), technical support, and product development, to ensure client requirements are met and to provide feedback from the field.
  • Documentation and Reporting:

    Maintain detailed records of client interactions and sales progress using CRM software and prepare regular sales forecasts and performance reports for management.
  • Industry Presence:

    Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to network, promote products, and stay updated on the latest developments and regulations.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Education:

    A Bachelor's degree in a scientific field (e.g., Food Science, Biotechnology, Chemistry) is required, with an MBA or related technical certification being an advantage.
  • Experience:

    Proven experience in B2B sales or business development, specifically within the lab equipment, pharmaceutical, food, or agriculture sectors, is highly desirable.
  • Technical Knowledge:

    Strong understanding of laboratory practices, industry standards and the specific testing/analysis needs of the target industries.
  • Core Skills:

    Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills are essential.
  • Software Proficiency:

    Familiarity with CRM software (e.g., Zoho, Centra, Salesforce) and Microsoft Office is necessary for tracking and reporting.
  • Personal Attributes:

    The ideal candidate is results-driven, self-motivated, strategic-thinking, and adaptable, with a willingness to travel extensively within Telangana & Andhra Pradesh market.
