Job Description

Department: Biomedical / Clinical Engineering

Reports To: Head of Biomedical Department / Hospital Administrator

Job Summary:

The Biomedical Engineer is responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of all medical and laboratory equipment. They ensure that all devices are functioning safely and efficiently, in compliance with hospital policies, manufacturer guidelines, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation & Maintenance:
  • Install, test, and maintain biomedical equipment such as ventilators, monitors, infusion pumps, dialysis machines, defibrillators, etc.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance as per schedule.
  • Calibration & Quality Assurance:
  • Calibrate instruments regularly to maintain accuracy and patient safety.
  • Maintain documentation of service reports and calibration certificates.
  • Troubleshooting & Repairs:
  • Diagnose technical faults and carry out repairs or coordinate with vendors/service engineers.
  • Inventory & Documentation:
  • Maintain updated records of equipment inventory, service history, and warranty details.
  • Ensure all equipment manuals, maintenance logs, and calibration data are properly documented.
  • Compliance & Safety:
  • Ensure adherence to NABH, ISO, and biomedical waste management standards.
  • Conduct routine equipment safety checks and report deviations.
  • Training & Support:
  • Train clinical and nursing staff in the safe operation and basic troubleshooting of medical devices.
  • Provide technical support during emergencies or new equipment installation.
  • Procurement Assistance:
  • Evaluate technical specifications for new equipment purchase.
  • Participate in vendor assessment and equipment acceptance testing.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or related field.
  • Knowledge of medical device technology, hospital safety protocols, and NABH / ISO standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Good communication and coordination abilities with clinical and technical teams.

Experience:

  • 3–5 years experience in hospital/medical equipment maintenance

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹49,783.85 per month
