AWS DevOps Engineer (Freelancer)

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development and system administration, with a focus on automating processes and improving the efficiency of our development and deployment pipelines. You will play a crucial role in enhancing our cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, and implementing best practices for continuous integration and delivery.

Duties

• Collaborate with development teams to design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or GitHub.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Chef.
• Manage container orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes to streamline application deployment.
• Monitor system performance and reliability using tools such as New Relic or Splunk.
• Ensure disaster recovery plans are in place and tested regularly.
• Troubleshoot software issues across the stack, from application code to network configurations.
• Maintain system security by implementing firewalls, incident response protocols, and access controls.
• Engage in system administration tasks across various operating systems including Linux, CentOS, and Microsoft Windows Server.
• Develop scripts for automation using languages such as Python, Bash (Unix shell), or PowerShell.
• Collaborate on requirements gathering for new features and enhancements within the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

Experience
The successful candidate should possess experience with the following technologies:

• Containerisation: Docker, Kubernetes
• Configuration Management: Ansible, Chef, Puppet
• Cloud Platforms: AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure
• Programming/Scripting Languages: Python, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, Groovy, Go
• Databases: MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, DynamoDB
• Web Servers: NGINX, Tomcat, Weblogic
• Development Tools: Maven, Gradle, Ant
• Version Control Systems: Git (GitHub/GitLab), SVN
• Networking: TCP/IP, DNS, Firewall configurations
• Monitoring Tools: New Relic, Elasticsearch

Candidates should have a solid understanding of DevOps principles including continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD), microservices architecture, distributed systems management, and incident management. Experience in software quality assurance and debugging is also essential. A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to improving processes will be key to success in this role.
