Job Description

Role of an AutoCAD Engineer An AutoCAD Engineer (or CAD Engineer / Draftsman) is responsible for creating accurate technical drawings, 2D/3D models, and design documentation used for manufacturing, construction, or engineering projects. They convert concepts, sketches, or ideas into detailed drawings that guide production and installation work. Key Responsibilities of an AutoCAD Engineer 1. Creating Technical Drawings • Developing detailed 2D drawings & 3D models using AutoCAD or other CAD software • Preparing assembly drawings, fabrication drawings, and layout plans • Creating manufacturing drawings with dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications 2. Understanding Project Requirements • Studying designs, sketches, and project requirements from engineers or clients • Interpreting technical information, standards, and specifications • Coordinating design changes based on feedback 3. Preparing Documentation • Creating BOM (Bill of Materials) • Preparing revision drawings and maintaining drawing records • Generating PDFs, DXF, and CNC files for machining or laser cutting 4. Quality & Accuracy Check • Checking drawings for accuracy, measurement correctness, and standards • Ensuring designs follow company, ISO, and industry standards • Detecting and correcting errors in drawings 5. Coordination & Support • Working closely with mechanical engineers, production, and quality teams • Supporting production and installation teams by explaining drawings • Coordinating with vendors and clients on technical details 6. Layout & Design Development • Designing jigs, fixtures, tools, or assemblies as per requirement • Preparing plant layout, equipment layout, piping layout (if applicable) • Supporting in prototype development and testing ⸻ Skills Required Technical Skills Soft Skills AutoCAD 2D & 3D Attention to detail SolidWorks / Creo / CATIA (optional) Problem solving GD&T, Tolerance & Dimensioning Communication Microsoft Excel & Documentation Team coordination Manufacturing & fabrication knowledge Time management
