Statutory Compliance – HR

Reports To:

Job Summary

The Statutory Compliance HR professional is responsible for ensuring that the organization complies with all labor laws, statutory regulations, and government requirements related to employees. This role involves timely filing of returns, managing compliance documentation, coordinating with regulatory authorities, and keeping abreast of legal changes impacting HR practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Statutory Compliance Management
Ensure adherence to all applicable labor laws and statutory requirements (Factories Act, Shops & Establishments Act, EPF, ESI, Gratuity, Bonus Act, Minimum Wages Act, etc.).
Maintain accurate records and registers as required under various acts.Prepare and file statutory returns (PF, ESI, Professional Tax, Labour Welfare Fund, etc.) within stipulated timelines.Handle employee queries related to statutory deductions and benefits.
  • Liaison & Coordination
Coordinate with government departments, labor inspectors, PF/ESI officers for inspections, audits, and clarifications.
Liaise with internal departments and external consultants to ensure compliance processes are up to date.
  • Audits & Documentation
Prepare and present compliance reports for internal and external audits.
Maintain statutory registers, licenses, and renewal records in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Policy & Process Compliance
Support the formulation and implementation of HR policies in line with statutory norms.
Provide training and guidance to HR and operations teams on compliance-related matters.
  • Legal Updates & Advisory
Keep updated with amendments in labor laws and regulations.Advise management on necessary changes in policies and practices to ensure compliance.

Key Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of Indian labor laws and statutory compliance requirements.Detail-oriented and highly organized.Good coordination and communication skills.Ability to work under tight deadlines.Proficiency in MS Office and HR software (PF/ESI portals, payroll systems).

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in HR, Law, Commerce, or related field (MBA/PGDM in HR preferred).

Experience:

3–7 years of experience in statutory compliance and HR operations.

Performance Indicators (KPIs)

100% timely filing of statutory returns.Zero non-compliance penalties or audit remarks.Updated statutory registers and licenses.Accuracy in employee statutory benefits processing.
