Assistant Counsel

As a Counsel III at Citi within the Legal - Product team, you will play a crucial role in offering legal guidance and thought leadership to the Business. Your primary objective will be to provide legal support, advice, and guidance by leveraging your thorough understanding of the Business and solid foundation in relevant laws and regulations. **Key Responsibilities:** - Provide legal counsel to the Business and participate in strategic initiatives - Offer subject matter expertise and interpretations of relevant laws, rules, regulations, and industry practices - Advise business management on legal matters impacting the business - Support legal peers in evaluating business proposals and analyzing documentation - Collaborate across internal lines of business, control/support functions, and external counsel for coordinated outcomes In this position, you will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and managing legal, regulatory, and reputational risks by collaborating with ICRM & Risk teams. Managing day-to-day legal activities, providing advisory services to business partners, and upholding compliance with laws and internal policies are crucial aspects of your role. **Qualifications Required:** - 2-5 years of relevant industry experience, preferably in financial services - Knowledge of banking regulations and international laws - Experience with complex deals, effective communication, negotiation skills, and building trusted relationships - Strong interpersonal, organizational, and relationship management skills - Capacity to apply sound judgement in a fast-paced environment - Valid bar license to practice law - Juris Doctorate or an equivalent law degree Your full-time availability is expected for this position.
