Job Summary

The Assembly Technician will support the development and prototyping of innovative medical devices. The role focuses on hands-on mechanical/electromechanical assembly, troubleshooting, testing, and assisting engineers during various stages of product development. This position is critical in translating fabricated components into working prototypes and early-stage production units while ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical and/or electromechanical assembly of components, sub-assemblies, and full systems based on engineering drawings, schematics, and verbal instructions.
  • Collaborate with design and development engineers to assemble prototypes and test setups during early development phases.
  • Interpret technical drawings and work instructions to accurately assemble products.
  • Assist in setting up and operating tools, fixtures, jigs, and assembly equipment.
  • Perform initial testing and basic troubleshooting on assemblies and report discrepancies.
  • Support in procurement of standard components/tools from local or overseas suppliers.
  • Maintain assembly and lab workspaces, including tool calibration and equipment upkeep.
  • Document assembly procedures, rework steps, and configuration changes.
  • Handle materials, components, and tools safely and efficiently.
  • Work closely with the quality and testing teams to ensure assembly quality and performance.
  • Participate in design verification and validation builds, providing real-time feedback.
  • Adhere to safety standards and regulatory guidelines throughout assembly processes.
  • Provide input for process improvements and manufacturing scalability.
  • Assist during design transfer activities to manufacturing or pilot production.


Skills Required

  • Proficiency in mechanical/electromechanical assembly using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, BOMs, and work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality orientation.
  • Basic troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in working with prototype and low-volume production environments.


Educational Qualification

  • Diploma / ITI in Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Mechanical or related engineering discipline is a plus but not mandatory.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical/electromechanical assembly (preferably in medical device, automotive, aerospace, or precision industries).
