Job Description

IBM i (AS/400) RPG Developer — Enterprise IT Services & Legacy Systems Modernization
We operate in the Enterprise IT Services and Legacy Systems Modernization sector, delivering mission-critical application development, maintenance and modernization for large enterprises across manufacturing, distribution, logistics and financial services. We support on-premise and hybrid IBM i (AS/400) environments and partner with clients to modernize workflows, integrate APIs and stabilize production systems.Role & Responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain RPG-based applications on IBM i (AS/400) to support business-critical transaction processing and batch jobs.
Implement and optimize DB2 for i SQL queries, stored procedures and file designs to improve performance and data integrity.
Troubleshoot production incidents, perform root-cause analysis and deploy fixes following change-control procedures.
Collaborate with functional analysts and QA to translate requirements into stable 5250 screens, APIs or integration points.
Lead code refactoring and modernization efforts (ILE RPG migration, modularization, API enablement) to reduce technical debt.
Create and maintain technical documentation, unit tests and deployment scripts; support on-site cutovers and knowledge transfer.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

Proven experience developing and maintaining applications on IBM i (AS/400) using RPG IV or ILE RPG.
Strong DB2 for i and SQL/400 skills for query tuning, stored procedures and data modeling.
Hands-on experience with CL programming and 5250/green-screen application flows.
Familiarity with Rational Developer for i (RDi) or similar IBM i IDEs and IBM i Access tools.
Solid debugging, performance tuning and production support experience in IBM i environments.
On-site availability in India and ability to work closely with operations and business stakeholders.

Preferred

Experience with API enablement on IBM i or integration via MQ/REST frameworks.
Exposure to modernization initiatives: web front-ends, Java integration or containerized connectors.
Experience with automated build/deploy processes and unit/acceptance testing for IBM i code.
