Art Director

Responsible for working with the Editor to conceptualize, develop, and design graphic content for a variety of projects initiated by either the editorial, sales, or marketing side by researching and gathering information and materials.

Location: Mumbai/Gurgaon

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• To keep projects on schedule and meet the assigned deadlines.
• Works closely with the printer’s personnel/pre-press regarding any printing matter.
• Plan and carry out the monthly scheduled tasks.
• Produces and designs publication pages for assigned brands as directed.
• Propose editorial content, picture selections, and text edits for the magazine.
• Mock-up preparation for sales and editorial reference before sending files to print.
• Discuss specifications (size, special material, special insertions, etc) for the magazine with the pre-press/printer/distribution.
• Submits complete magazine files to pre-press to start production of the monthly issue.
• Responsible for producing PDF files for printing and online magazine platforms.
• When needed, assisting the digital editor to prepare T+L’s visuals to be for web, IG, and FB (resizing, watermarking, re-cropping etc.) and editing videos/photos during shoots.
• Compile invoices relating to creative productions for T+L (photographers’, illustrators’, etc.)
• Evaluates, maintains, and uses the templates and graphic styles for the assigned publication based on established standards and policies.
• Design special needs, including supplements, special projects, and custom projects for T+L – brand assets, invitations, IP logos, animations, templates, and all areas of event assets and social media.
• Proficiency in Adobe photoshop, Adobe illustrator, and Adobe InDesign. Having skills in other design software would be a great addition.
• Strong Photoshop skills (generally photo retouching, colour correction, image manipulation skills, etc).
• Collaborates with the Editor, other Art Directors, and other editorial staff to produce design concepts/photoshoot ideas.
• Assists the Editor and edits during big shoots if he/she is shorthanded.
• Maintaining relationships with clients, socialites, and personalities to strengthen database connections by entertaining during any events hosted by the company
• Assists the marketing team during events by the company in any way possible (on-site assistance)

QUALIFICATIONS

• Advanced Adobe skills in InDesign, and intermediate Photoshop and Illustrator are a must.
• Additional skills in other Adobe software are a bonus, not a must.
• Experience in the magazine publishing industry is a huge plus.
• Experience in creating social media templates and animation packages is essential.
• Some knowledge of video editing is a boon.
• Experience in logo creation and working on IPs is extremely valuable.
• Excellent writing and communication skills in English
• At least 5-7 years of experience in graphic design (magazine layout design essential)
• Creative thinking and independent problem solving.
• Time management and ability to deliver to tight deadlines.
