Position Title: Area Sales Manager General Trade

Key Responsibilities:

Sales & Distribution Management

  • Drive primary and secondary sales in assigned territory.
  • Ensure regular forecasting and achievement of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
  • Monitor distributor ROI and health of the distribution network.

Team Management

  • Lead, train, and monitor performance of the sales team (SO/TSI level).
  • Conduct regular reviews and field visits with team members.
  • Identify skill gaps and provide on-ground coaching.

Market Development

  • Expand distribution width and depth in General Trade.
  • Execute trade promotions and schemes effectively.
  • Monitor competition activities and suggest counter strategies.

Channel Partner Management

  • Appointing new distributors as needed.
  • Maintain strong relationships with trade partners.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies on claims, returns, credit notes, etc.

Reporting & MIS

  • Track daily sales performance and provide regular reports to senior management.
  • Use data analytics to identify trends and opportunities.

Key Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of General Trade channel in FMCG sector
  • Experience in managing a team and distributor network
  • Analytical mindset and data-driven decision making
  • Ability to travel extensively within the territory
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and Sales Automation Tools
