Arcgate - Power BI Engineer - Dashboard Design & Reporting

Description

Key Responsibilities :

Power BI Development

• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and data visualizations.
• Build and optimize Analysis Services (SSAS/Tabular) reporting models to support scalable BI solutions.
• Create custom visualizations using Power BI Desktop to highlight meaningful insights.
• Implement row-level security (RLS) and data-level security models as required.
  

Data Modeling & ETL

• Develop efficient data models, star schemas, and relationships using DAX and Power Query (M language).
• Perform ETL operations to extract, transform, and load data from various structured and unstructured sources.
• Optimize datasets for better performance and scalability.
  

KPI Scorecards & Dashboards

• Create KPI scorecards, performance dashboards, trend analyses, and executive-level summaries.
• Work closely with business stakeholders to translate business needs into compelling visual solutions.
• Ensure dashboards are intuitive, user-friendly, and aligned with reporting requirements.
  

BI Tool Expertise

• Utilize Power BI as the primary BI platform while leveraging knowledge of Tableau and SAP BI tools as required.
• Integrate Power BI with SAP sources and other enterprise systems for enriched analytical capabilities.
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to develop unified and consistent reporting layers.
  

Performance Optimization

• Monitor and improve the performance of reports, dashboards, and data refresh processes.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks related to data modeling or DAX queries.
• Ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of BI outputs.
  

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

• Work closely with business stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and deliver insights.
• Communicate technical concepts to non-technical users clearly and effectively.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, standups, and reviews.
  

Documentation & Support

• Create and maintain documentation for dashboards, data sources, data dictionaries, and BI processes.
• Provide support, enhancements, and troubleshooting for existing Power BI reports.
• Train users on how to interact with dashboards and self-service BI tools.
  

Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills :

• Strong hands-on experience with Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and SQL.
• Proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M), and data modeling concepts.
• Familiarity with BI tools such as Tableau and SAP Business Objects / SAP BW.
• Experience with SSAS (Tabular/Cube Models) is highly preferred.
• Good understanding of ETL processes and connecting to multiple data sources.
• Knowledge of cloud BI platforms such as Azure (preferred), AWS, or GCP is a plus.
