Job Description

Application Engineer – Automatic Transmissions Role: Application development for Automatic and Automated Transmissions in passenger vehicles. Key Responsibilities: Vehicle layout, heat rejection, neutral drag & gradient performance calculations. BOM development, 3D CAD modeling, drawings, and product structure management. New model development through concurrent engineering with stakeholders. Supplier coordination – create & release SOR, component selection based on cost/performance. Develop & validate transmission/hydraulic components (shift system, motor, valves, pumps, tanks, accumulators). Conduct assembly & vehicle build trials, resolve line issues, and perform DFMEA/reliability evaluations. Analyze and resolve market issues (NVH, failures), implement VA-VE cost reduction proposals. Competencies Strong knowledge of AT, CVT, AMT systems. Proficient in CAD (Unigraphics), DFMEA, GD&T. Familiar with manufacturing processes – die casting, forging, machining, plastic molding, transmission assembly. Hands-on with AT/CVT evaluation, quality issue resolution, validation. Knowledge of mechatronics, Matlab, Simulink, INCA (advantage). Behavioral Self-motivated, flexible, strong ownership & target orientation. Good communication, presentation, networking skills. Japanese language & long-term assignment in Japan is an added advantage.
