As a Yoga Trainer at the eldercare center, your role involves leading safe, gentle, and therapeutic yoga sessions tailored for elderly residents. You will need to adapt traditional yoga practices to accommodate seniors with various physical limitations, chronic conditions, and mobility issues. The primary aim is to improve physical flexibility, mental clarity, emotional well-being, and overall quality of life in a calm and structured environment. - Design and conduct age-appropriate yoga sessions, including chair yoga, restorative yoga, pranayama, and guided meditation. - Modify poses and techniques to suit physical limitations and health conditions like arthritis, osteoporosis, Parkinson's, and post-stroke recovery. - Provide individual attention to ensure safety, comfort, and correct posture during sessions. - Incorporate mindfulness, stress reduction, and relaxation techniques. - Observe residents for signs of fatigue or discomfort during sessions. - Communicate any changes in residents' physical or emotional condition to the caregiving or medical team. - Encourage consistent participation while being mindful of residents' energy levels and emotional state. - Create a safe, non-slip, and calming environment for yoga sessions. - Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of yoga mats, chairs, and props. - Adhere to eldercare health protocols, including infection control and mobility support guidelines. - Educate residents on the benefits of yoga for aging and how to integrate simple practices into daily life. - Provide guidance and support to residents' families or caregivers for home practice. - Motivate residents to actively engage in wellness programs and group activities. - Keep attendance logs and document residents' participation and progress. - Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to align yoga practices with therapeutic goals. - Participate in wellness planning meetings and events at the center. - Certification in Yoga recognized by Ministry of AYUSH, Yoga Alliance, or similar authority. - Minimum 12 years of teaching experience in yoga; experience with seniors or therapeutic yoga is preferred. - Understanding of age-related conditions and common chronic illnesses. - Ability to adapt practices for individuals with mobility limitations. - Excellent communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills. - Fluency in relevant languages such as English, Hindi, or regional languages. Desirable Skills/Certifications: - Certification or training in geriatric yoga or yoga therapy. - CPR or First Aid training. - Knowledge of meditation and holistic wellness practices.
