We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Perception Engineer to join our innovative robotics team. The ideal candidate will bring extensive expertise in designing, developing, and implementing perception algorithms for autonomous robotic systems, with a strong emphasis on sensor fusion, SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), and multi-modal sensing.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize perception algorithms to enable robust environment understanding for autonomous systems.
- Implement advanced sensor fusion techniques integrating data from LiDAR, cameras, radar, and IMUs to improve system accuracy and reliability.
- Design and deploy SLAM algorithms for real-time localization and mapping in complex environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate perception modules into embedded and real-time systems.
- Utilize computer vision and machine learning techniques to enhance object detection, classification, and tracking.
- Conduct sensor calibration and validation to ensure data accuracy and consistency across modalities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by researching state-of-the-art perception methods and incorporating them into product development.
- Support software development and testing using ROS2 and other robotic middleware platforms.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing.
Required Qualifications
- Masters or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 to 8 years of professional experience in perception engineering within autonomous systems or robotics.
- Proficient in programming with C++ and Python, with a strong emphasis on writing efficient, maintainable code.
- Extensive experience developing and deploying SLAM algorithms.
- Deep understanding of computer vision principles and sensor fusion methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with key sensor types including LiDAR, cameras, radar, and inertial measurement units (IMUs).
- Practical knowledge of ROS2 and its ecosystem for robot software development.
- Familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch, applied to perception challenges.
- Solid mathematical foundation in linear algebra, probability theory, optimization, and state estimation.
- Experience working with real-time systems and embedded software development is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior involvement in perception systems for autonomous vehicles or mobile robots.
- Expertise in sensor calibration techniques and procedures.
- Experience with multi-object tracking, motion prediction, and behavior modeling.
- Hands-on familiarity with Autoware or similar autonomous driving software stacks.
