WLAN Test Engineer

Primary Job Title:

Role & Responsibilities

• Design, author and execute comprehensive WLAN test plans (functional, performance, stress and regression) for 802.11ac/ax/ay/be devices across client and AP use-cases.
• Perform RF and protocol measurements—throughput, latency, packet error rate (PER), RSSI, MCS, roaming and co-existence tests—using Spirent/Ixia/Keysight and OTA chambers.
• Automate repeatable test flows and validation suites using Python, shell scripting and test frameworks to accelerate CI pipelines and reduce manual effort.
• Capture and analyze packet traces (Wireshark/tcpdump), log files and kernel/firmware debug output to identify root causes and propose corrective actions.
• Collaborate closely with firmware, RF and system engineers to reproduce issues, verify fixes, and validate performance across firmware revisions and hardware variants.
• Maintain lab infrastructure, author clear test reports, track defects in issue trackers, and contribute to product release readiness and certification activities.
  

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science or equivalent plus 3+ years of hands-on WLAN testing or wireless system validation experience.
• Practical experience with 802.11 protocol stacks and RF/performance testing (throughput, PER, roaming, MIMO behavior).
• Strong scripting skills (Python preferred) to build automation and parse test output; comfort with Linux-based DUT access and debugging.
• Working knowledge of test equipment (Spirent/Ixia/Keysight/Anritsu), packet capture tools and OTA/chamber testing.
• Excellent problem-solving, test-case design and written communication skills for concise bug reports and test documentation.
  

Preferred

• Experience with Wi‑Fi Alliance certification processes, regulatory testing, and RF lab calibration.
• Familiarity with CI/CD integration for test suites (Jenkins/GitLab), pytest or similar frameworks, and source control workflows (Git).
• Exposure to modern Wi‑Fi features (OFDMA, MU‑MIMO, HE, EHT), 6GHz band testing and MLO concepts.
