Job Title: Welder II – Blast Furnace Operations
Location: Hospate, Karnataka

Job Summary:
The Welder II is responsible for performing intermediate to advanced-level welding, fabrication, and repair work on structures and equipment associated with blast furnace operations. This role ensures the structural integrity and operational efficiency of furnace-related components through scheduled and emergency maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:· Perform welding, cutting, brazing, and fabrication tasks on heavy industrial equipment, primarily in the blast furnace and hot metal areas.
· Inspect and assess blast furnace components (tuyeres, bustle pipe, runners, slag runners, etc.) for wear, deformation, or damage.
· Fabricate and repair furnace chutes, runners, ducting, hoppers, and pipework using various welding methods (SMAW, MIG, TIG, oxy-acetylene).
· Carry out on-site structural repairs during furnace shutdowns and turnarounds.
· Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders for fabrication and installation.
· Operate manual and power tools safely, including grinders, torches, and plasma cutters.
· Follow safety protocols specific to high-heat and confined space environments.
· Coordinate with the mechanical and refractory teams during furnace rebuilds or maintenance outages.
· Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition.
· Complete daily maintenance logs and report completed tasks to supervision.
Qualifications:· High
school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in welding preferred.
· 3–5 years
of welding experience in a heavy industrial environment (preferably steel or ironmaking).
· Experience working around blast furnaces or similar high-temperature metallurgical equipment is highly desirable.
· Proficient in Stick (SMAW) and MIG
welding; TIG experience is a plus.
· Familiar with working at heights, in confined spaces, and under heat stress conditions.
· Ability to read technical blueprints and follow detailed work instructions.
· Knowledge of OSHA and site-specific safety protocols.
