Web Designer – Freelance

Location:

We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Freelance Web Designer to join our team at Digital Gaia. In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize visually engaging and user-friendly websites that reflect client brand identities and deliver exceptional user experiences. You will work across multiple industries and collaborate closely with clients and internal teams to bring concepts to life, ensuring functionality, responsiveness, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Website Design & Development:

  Create responsive, modern websites using WordPress, Webflow, or other CMS platforms tailored to client needs.

• UI/UX Design:

  Develop intuitive layouts, wireframes, and prototypes that enhance usability and align with brand identity.

• Graphic & Visual Assets:

  Design and optimize graphics, icons, and other visual elements for websites and landing pages.

• Performance & SEO Basics:

  Ensure fast load times, mobile responsiveness, accessibility compliance, and SEO-friendly structures.

• Client Collaboration:

  Work directly with clients to gather requirements, present design concepts, and incorporate feedback.

• Cross-Functional Integration:

  Collaborate with developers, content creators, and marketing teams to align design with business goals.

• Maintenance & Updates:

  Provide ongoing site support, troubleshooting, and updates as needed.

• Trend Awareness:

  Stay up to date on design best practices, web standards, and emerging tools/technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Web Design, Graphic Design, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 5+ years of experience in web design with a strong portfolio of responsive websites.
• Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Sketch, etc.).
• Hands-on experience with CMS platforms (WordPress, Webflow, Shopify, Squarespace, or similar).
• Strong understanding of responsive design, UI/UX principles, and accessibility standards.
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript for front-end customization.
• Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote freelance environment and deliver projects on time.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in agency or freelance environments with multiple clients/projects.
• Familiarity with conversion-focused landing page design and CRO principles.
• Knowledge of web analytics tools (Google Analytics, Hotjar, etc.).
• Basic understanding of SEO implementation (metadata, alt text, site structure).
• Experience with e-commerce platforms and integrations (Shopify, WooCommerce, etc.).
