Teach Tech, shape futures Volunteer online to teach web development to children in Child Care Homes At Proximity Works, we are coders, designers, and product experts whose own lives were transformed by learning to code. Having experienced firsthand the doors technology can open, we created Proximity Foundation to give children from underserved communities the same chance to shape brighter futures through careers in tech. Our CCI Tech Programme is working to make Child Care Institutions (CCIs) into launchpads for high-growth careers, by equipping children accessing these Homes with web development skills alongside life skills that have the potential to spark curiosity, unlock potential, and open opportunities they may never have imagined. As this ambitious goal needs many hands and hearts, we are inviting technology enthusiasts and software professionals to join us as TeachTech Volunteers to contribute four hours a week online to teach foundational web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL) to children at CCIs. Volunteers will help transform children's learning and empowerment journeys by lending their skills for: Curriculum Design: Foundational Web Development Course Brainstorm and co-design a phased 3-month curriculum covering HTML, CSS, SQL, JavaScript, and eventually AI. Craft interactive exercises, mini-projects, and coding games that make learning fun and tangible. Define learning outcomes and progress assessment criteria. Teaching and Mentoring: Lead Weekly Online Sessions Spend four hours/week mentoring small groups of children in web development concepts Answer questions, troubleshoot challenges, and guide students through modules, collaborative exercises and practice projects Encourage creativity, problem-solving, and application of coding logic in real-world contexts to ensure concepts are understood, and adapt lessons based on student feedback. Coordination and Communication: Operations and Troubleshooting support Support with the set-up of the online learning environment, including LMS access, student accounts, and course materials. Track attendance, module completion, and assessment data to monitor progress Coordinate with CCI staff and volunteers to schedule sessions, share resources, and troubleshoot technical or logistical issues. Gather feedback from students, CCI staff, and volunteers to continuously improve course content and delivery. Support the creation of reports and progress summaries to highlight outcomes, celebrate milestones, and inform future program decisions and proposals. Sign up to volunteer if you: Are based in India (This is a remote volunteering opportunity, and all candidates, irrespective of location in India, are encouraged to apply) Have skills in web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, etc.) Enjoy sharing knowledge—whether or not you’ve taught before (prior teaching/mentoring helps, but passion for youth education and willingness to learn matter most!) Excited to mentor children, make coding engaging, and give clear, supportive feedback Believe in creating development-with-dignity opportunities for children from underserved communities Are comfortable teaching online and passionate about education Can commit about 4 hours a week for 3 months to ensure steady learning for the children Can speak English, Hindi, and (if possible) other regional languages like Marathi, Telugu, or Kannada Register to Volunteer here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfcVnRxGCb1BDPyC1zB5cpWu6mvV0nPdTbXujq1UZuUfSHS4w/viewform?usp=dialog For additional information or in case of queries, write to aiswarya.a@proximity.foundation.
