Valve Assembly & Testing Engineer

Job Summary:

A technically proficient and detail-oriented Aerospace Valve Assembly and Testing Engineer to handle the end-to-end process of assembling, testing, and qualifying aerospace valves. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for conducting environmental tests as per MIL-STD requirements, ensuring all assemblies meet aerospace and defense compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Valve Assembly:

• Assemble aerospace-grade valves (e.g., solenoid, relief, check, control valves & Regulator) per engineering drawings, standard operating procedures, and customer specifications.
  
• Ensure clean handling and ESD precautions for sensitive components.
  
• Perform torquing, fitting, and sub-assembly integration with precision tools.
  

2. Functional and Pressure Testing:

• Conduct hydrostatic, pneumatic, and flow testing for pressure validation.
  
• Perform leak testing using helium mass spectrometry, bubble, or pressure decay methods.
  
• Verify valve operation under varying flow and pressure conditions.
  

3. Environmental Testing (As per MIL Standards):

Plan, prepare, and execute environmental tests as per MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-202, or customer-specified standards, such as:

• Thermal cycling / thermal shock
  
• High/low temperature operation and storage
  
• Vibration testing (random/sine per MIL-STD-810 or DO-160)
  
• Shock and drop tests
  
• Humidity and salt spray/corrosion resistance
  
• Altitude (low pressure) testing
  
• Document and interpret environmental test results; escalate failures with root cause and corrective action plans.
  
• Coordinate with environmental test labs (in-house or external) for schedule and logistics.
  

4. Quality and Documentation:

• Interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams (for electro-mechanical valves), and specifications.
  
• Maintain traceable test reports, inspection records, and failure analysis documentation.
  
• Prepare First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) and validation documents for qualification programs.
  
• Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and customer quality standards.
  

5. Cross-functional and Continuous Improvement:

• Collaborate with design, production, and QA teams to resolve assembly and test issues.
  
• Provide technical input on design for testability (DFT) and design for manufacturability (DFM).
  
• Identify and drive process improvements for assembly and test efficiency.
  

6. Safety and Compliance:

• Follow cleanroom, safety, and EHS protocols during test and assembly activities.
  
• Ensure adherence to ITAR, RoHS, and other regulatory requirements as applicable to defense exports.
  

Required Qualifications:

Education: Diploma in Mechanical, or equivalent.

Experience: 2–6 years in aerospace component assembly and testing, including environmental testing exposure.

Skills:

• Hands-on knowledge of MIL-STD-810 / MIL-STD-202 testing.
  
• Experience with test rigs, flow benches, pressure test equipment, thermal chambers, and vibration tables.
  
• Proficient in GD&T, torque tools, and root cause analysis techniques.
  
• Familiar with ERP and digital quality management systems.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with valves for ISRO, DRDO, HAL, or private aerospace vendors.
  
• Knowledge of FAA, EASA, or DO-160 environmental testing standards.
  
• Exposure to working in cleanroom or oxygen-cleaned environments.
  

Work Conditions:

• May involve exposure to thermal chambers, high-decibel test areas, and pressurized systems.
  
• Standing, lifting (up to 15 kg), and precision work under PPE may be required.
  
• Occasional travel to testing labs or customer sites for validation/testing support.
