User Experience Researcher

As an in-country User Experience Researcher at Mathematica, you will lead user experience research using quantitative and qualitative methods in India, focusing on digital products or services aimed at social impact or adoption and usability in rural markets. Key Responsibilities: - Lead user research on farmers" experiences with Virtual Agronomist and Farmer.Chat, particularly focusing on women, youth, and marginalized groups in Bihar, India, and Kenya. - Conduct FGDs, KIIs, household interviews, and utilize participatory tools like farmer diaries and journey mapping to capture the farmer voice in low-literacy contexts. - Collaborate with implementers and evaluators to design A/B tests that assess methods to enhance farmer uptake and retention. - Integrate digital analytics such as chat logs, click-throughs, and sentiment analysis with qualitative findings to explain user behaviors. - Apply a strong gender and inclusion lens to identify barriers like access to devices, time-use, and literacy. - Build local capacity by training enumerators and interviewers in human-centered design and user research methods. Qualifications Required: - Advanced degree in human-centered design, anthropology, sociology, development studies, engineering, or related fields. - Minimum 5-7 years of applied user research experience in rural settings, with relevant work experience in Bihar, India being a bonus. - Demonstrated experience in agriculture, digital inclusion, or ICT4D research, especially with smallholder farmers. - Experience leading or supporting quantitative UX research methods like A/B tests or surveys. - Proven ability to conduct qualitative research in rural settings using methods such as participatory research, focus groups, and workshops. - Fluency in Hindi and ability to conduct research in the language. - Ability to work independently in rural contexts, with strong communication and facilitation skills.,
