Big and small: We design from the scale of streets to neighbourhoods to city regions.

We are looking for a Parametric Modeller / Urban Planner to join our growing India team. The successful candidate will contribute to a diverse portfolio of international projects, working alongside our passionate and highly skilled team, as well as the broader expertise of Arup and our partners. • Demonstrated experience in parametric modelling for urban planning and design projects.
  • Strong analytical, storyboarding, drawing, graphics, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to develop and refine design concepts, bring innovative ideas to the table, and work both collaboratively and autonomously.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Rhino and Grasshopper for parametric and computational design.
  • Strong coding/scripting skills in Python, with experience in automating design workflows.
  • Experience with GIS mapping and analysis (QGIS or ArcGIS).
  • Excellent 3D modelling skills and competency in visual communication.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • Well-versed with MS Office Suite.
  • Outstanding graphic communication and visualisation skills.
  • Knowledge of interoperability with Revit, Civil3D, or other BIM tools is an advantage.
  • Experience with Lumion, Enscape, or advanced visualisation tools is desirable.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement parametric and computational design workflows for urban planning and masterplanning projects.
  • Collaborate with expert teams in the UK and Southeast Asia to localise and adapt best-practice scripts and methodologies for the Indian context.
  • Build and maintain a library of reusable parametric components and scripts.
  • Support the delivery of high-quality, data-driven urban design solutions, including scenario modelling, performance analysis, and interactive dashboards.
  • Mentor and support junior team members in computational design skills.
  • Contribute to the establishment of a parametric modelling team in India, fostering regional excellence and innovation.

What we offer:

  • The opportunity to work on transformative urban projects with a global impact.
  • A collaborative, inclusive, and supportive team environment.
