Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Tools Design Engineer, located in Pune. Responsibilities include designing and developing tooling solutions, creating detailed Computer-Aided Design (CAD) models, and ensuring that tools meet the specifications necessary for injection molding and other production processes. The engineer will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize efficiency and maintain high manufacturing standards.

Tool Designer

Key Responsibilities

• Design

  plastic injection moulds

  , support tools, and auxiliary tooling as per customer requirements.
• Prepare

  electrode designs

  for EDM machining with proper allowances.
• Create and maintain

  2D & 3D drawings

  for tools, inserts, and wire-cut operations.
• Prepare detailed

  Bill of Materials (BOM)

  for moulds and tools.
• Generate and update

  wire-cut 2D drawings

  with tolerances and references.
• Review and implement

  DFM reports

  , suggest corrections, and support manufacturability improvements.
• Prepare

  ECN (Engineering Change Note) modification reports

  for design revisions.
• Coordinate with

  toolroom, CNC, EDM, wire-cut, and molding teams

  during manufacturing and trials.
• Support

  tool trials, modifications, and troubleshooting

  during sampling and production.
• Maintain proper

  revision control and documentation

  .
• Follow company quality standards and timelines.

Required Skills & Knowledge

• Strong knowledge of

  plastic injection mould design

  concepts.
• Hands-on experience in

  support tool and electrode design

  .
• Knowledge of

  mould materials, standard components, and machining processes

  .
• Understanding of

  DFM, tolerances, shrinkage, gating, cooling, and ejection systems

  .
• Experience in

  BOM preparation and documentation

  .
• Familiarity with

  ECN and revision control processes

  .

Software Skills

• AutoCAD (Mandatory)
• SolidWorks / NX / Creo (Any one preferred)
• Basic knowledge of MS Excel & documentation

Qualification

• Diploma / BE / BTech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Relevant industry experience preferred
