Role Description

This is a full-time remote role for a Tech Lead — MERN Stack at InterviewCall. The Tech Lead will be responsible for owning the technical direction and execution of core web products built on the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js). Day-to-day tasks will include architecting scalable backend services and APIs, defining frontend and backend engineering standards, driving technical planning and delivery, reviewing and approving design decisions, ensuring code quality and system reliability, and mentoring engineers through structured reviews and guidance. The role requires strong system design, leadership, and the ability to align engineering execution with business priorities while maintaining performance, security, and scalability.

Qualifications

• Experience: 7–12 years (MERN Stack + technical leadership + architecture)
• Proficient understanding of Computer Science fundamentals and principles
• Strong expertise in MERN Stack development: Node.js, Express.js, React.js, and MongoDB
• Proven experience leading architecture and delivery of scalable web systems and production-grade REST APIs
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and solid knowledge of software design principles and OOP concepts
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB schema design, indexing strategy, aggregation pipelines, and performance tuning at scale
• Ability to drive frontend architecture decisions in React (component systems, state management, performance optimization)
• Strong system design, debugging, and problem-solving skills with focus on scalability, security, and reliability
• Experience defining engineering best practices: code reviews, testing strategy, CI/CD, release processes, and observability
• Exposure to distributed systems concepts such as caching, queues, background jobs, and service-to-service communication is a plus
• Strong collaboration and leadership skills: mentoring engineers, aligning stakeholders, and delivering predictable outcomes
• Prior experience in the tech or education industry is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
