Team Leader – Medium/Small - Scale Synthesis

About the Role:

You will lead a team of synthetic organic chemists to carry out CRO and discovery chemistry projects with a very diverse chemistry background in synthesis, R&D department. The team will carry out several projects in parallel on different topics, purposes and scales.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of up to 10 people with different educational background and various level of experience in organic synthesis.
• To provide scientific (80%) and strategic (20%) leadership in operating chemistry related discovery project(s).
• Ability of designing synthetic schemes with the support of literature search.
• Propose scientifically established solutions to scientific problems while conducting project risk assessment and mitigation. 
• Coordinating to the multiple projects in a fast-paced, and international environment.
• Responsible for optimal utilization of resources in the specific project team through monitoring, measuring and reporting on scientific issues.
• Active participation in day-to-day project discussions with team members and manager.
• Candidate should have a clear knowledge of IP confidentiality and data integrity.
• Supporting in writing the proposals and project/scientific results with good written and presentation skills.
• Implementation and assurance of the company safety rules and SOPs.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to expedite the projects.
• Liaise with customers and suppliers.
• Promote a culture of Right First Time and Operational Excellence.
• Flexibility to relocate in Europe if required.

Candidate requirements:

• PhD in synthetic organic chemistry with 3-5 years of industrial experience.
• Intensive industrial experience in CRO and custom organic synthesis.
• Sound knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry with exceptional trouble shooting skills.
• Good knowledge of literature search and retrieving experimental details from journals and patents.
• Expertise in handling both scientific and lab operational responsibilities.
• Must have good written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Managerial experience is mandatary for this position.
