STORES / INVENTORY MANAGER

Key ResponsibilitiesInventory & Materials ManagementManage receipt, storage, and issue of raw materials (castings, forgings, bars, plates), bought-out parts (seals, fasteners, bearings), and sub-assemblies.Maintain optimal inventory levels to support uninterrupted production while minimizing excess stock.Ensure FIFO/FEFO practices, traceability, and batch control where applicable.Conduct regular physical stock verification and reconcile with ERP/system records.Production & Dispatch SupportEnsure timely material issue to machining, assembly, testing, and finishing departments.Coordinate with production planning for material availability as per work orders.Manage storage and dispatch of finished actuators, valves, and accessories as per customer requirements.Documentation & SystemsMaintain accurate records for GRN, material issue, returns, rejections, and dispatch.Operate and monitor inventory through ERP/MRP systems.Support audits by providing inventory, traceability, and compliance documents.Quality, Safety & ComplianceEnsure proper handling and storage of critical components to prevent damage, corrosion, or contamination.Segregate rejected, non-conforming, and customer-supplied materials.Follow ISO, QMS, and safety standards relevant to valve and actuator manufacturing.Vendor & Internal CoordinationCoordinate with purchase, QA, production, and logistics teams for smooth material flow.Support inspection activities and ensure timely clearance of incoming materials.Team ManagementSupervise storekeepers and helpers.Allocate work, train staff, and enforce discipline and safety practices.Skills & CompetenciesStrong knowledge of industrial materials, machining parts, and valve/actuator componentsInventory control techniques and ERP/MRP systemsUnderstanding of production workflows in manufacturingAttention to detail and strong organizational skillsLeadership and team management abilities

Qualifications

Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field5–10 years of experience in stores or inventory management in a manufacturing environmentPrior experience in valve, actuator, or heavy engineering industry preferredKey Performance Indicators (KPIs)Inventory accuracyStock turnover ratioProduction material availabilityReduction in material damage and obsolescenceAudit compliance
