Storage Engineer

The Backup Administrator will be actively involved in the evaluation, review, and management of cloud based and on-premise backup solutions. You will be part of a Team who supports a wide range of workloads. You should be well versed in backup administration which includes installation, configuration and troubleshooting. A strong candidate will be able to rapidly troubleshoot complex technical problems under pressure, implement solutions that are scalable, while managing multiple customer groups.

Execute and translate into operational excellence the database architecture roadmaps and specific plans to implement themBackup firmware and software version upgradesProactive backup capacity planningUsage of new backup featuresPerformance and scalability goalsHigh availability and disaster recovery goalsData security and protectionFunctionality, stress, and load testingCompliance initiatives (SOX, PCI, etc.)Participate in production on-call rotation (one week at a time of 7x24 on-call support for production environments)Execute major backup migrations as well as application migrations, with minimal system downtimeEnsure backup standards are followed and implementedBackup health monitoringTechnical DocumentationReview proceduresProactively monitor production backup systems, analyze findings, formulate recommendations, and work with the backup Architect to implement recommendations

What Experience You Need

BS or Associate's Degree/Technical Certification or equivalent job experience required5+ years’ experience as an Vertias(Cohesity)/Commvault production and development

Experience With Linux (and Windows) Required.

Knowledge of Backup Tools/Utilities (e.g., Commserve, Altaview, opscenter, etc.)Must have strong analytical and problem solving skillsMust possess excellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to plan work to meet project deadlines, accommodate demands by users, set priorities, organize information and escalate issues appropriatelyAbility to participate in multiple projects concurrently. Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation), customer service-oriented, strong problem solving skills, and the ability to understand new technologies quickly are essentialA strong commitment to network availability and performance, and professionalism at all timesAbility to speak to technical groups about designs and implementation
