You will be part of a leading, multinational and multidisciplinary team of experts (based at the York Centre) in an organisation where the well-being and development of our employees is of high priority We require a Research Associate to become an integral member of our air quality climate and environmental change team, working internationally to promote the development of integrated strategies within the private sector for the mitigation of air pollution and climate change Role Description The research team you will join works internationally to support the development of integrated strategies for the mitigation of air pollution and climate change This research supports the activities of the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC the World Economic Forum and the Clean Air Fund on the private sector work, as well as research projects assisting national and sub-national governments plan strategies to achieve development benefits by reducing impacts on human health, crop yields, and contributing to the global drive to combat climate change You will work on projects as part of the team that help decision makers in Private Sector companies and national governments to plan their emission reductions and realise multiple benefits, reducing health impacts, limiting global warming, and achieving sustainable development goals You will work with other colleagues at SEI York to mainly engage with people in the Private Sector and train them and help them to develop emission inventories, assess the mitigation potential of various policies and assess the potential of these policies to have additional co-benefits to improve health Skills, Experience & Qualification Needed PhD or equivalent experience in environment-related science, or another relevant subject (which include aspects of corporate social responsibility and private sector impacts on the environment); An interest in the interplay between science, socio-economic impacts and development using a systems-based approach related to pollution, including air pollution, but also other pollution eg chemical and plastic pollution; An interest in supporting the capacity of different partners to develop emission scenarios and analyse mitigation strategies for air pollution and climate change, and evidence of a desire and ability to actively engage with different decision makers; Experience or knowledge of some of the above in relation to specific sectors; Highly numerate and confident in manipulating large spreadsheets and databases, with experience of using, and possibly developing, computer models for air pollution assessment A team player, independently motivated and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to help enhance the capacity of different practitioners in the private sector Interview : To be confirmed For
