Job Description

Server & Infrastructure Management:
  • Configuration server performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
  • Manage and support physical and virtual server environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software, and hardware.
  • Troubleshoot server issues related to hardware, software, and network configurations.
  • Collaborate with L1 support and other IT teams to resolve complex issues.

Backup, Disaster Recovery & Data Protection

  • Perform regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
  • Utilize and manage backup tools such as-
■ Veeam Backup & Replication for virtual, physical, and cloud workloads.
  • Ensure backup integrity and perform regular test restores to validate disaster recovery plans.
  • Maintain documentation of backup configurations, schedules, and recovery procedures.

Security & Compliance

  • Implement and maintain security protocols to protect network and server infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • Respond to security incidents and provide resolutions.

Documentation And Reporting

  • Maintain accurate documentation of network and server configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Generate regular reports on system performance, issues, and resolutions.
  • Provide training and support to L1 support staff and end-users as needed.

Requirements

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in network and server support, preferably in an L2 capacity.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of network protocols, services, and standards (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs).
  • Experience with network hardware (e.g., Cisco, Juniper) and server platforms (e.g., Windows Server, Linux).
  • Proficiency in virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Knowledge of security practices and tools (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection systems).
  • Hands-on experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions, including tools like Veeam.

Certifications

  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, MCSA.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
