Specialist IS Architect – Workday Payroll

Job Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product Managers and System Architects to manage Workday Payroll configuration and analysis across assigned regions
• Translate complex payroll and compliance requirements into Workday Payroll configuration logic
• Configure and maintain earnings, deductions, pay components, payroll inputs, costing allocations, and calculation rules
• Set up and validate federal, state, and local tax configurations in compliance with payroll legislation
• Manage payroll business processes, retro pay setups, off-cycle payments, and payroll event processing
• Partner with HR and Finance teams to align payroll costing and General Ledger integrations
• Define and execute testing scripts and acceptance criteria for payroll changes and releases
• Ensure end-to-end payroll accuracy through integrations with Time Tracking, Benefits, and Financials
• Troubleshoot payroll discrepancies and recommend configuration-level corrections
• Support payroll audits, compliance reviews, and reporting through accurate documentation
• Conduct configuration walkthroughs and knowledge transfer sessions for stakeholders

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 7+ years of hands-on Workday Payroll configuration experience
• Strong experience with US, Canada, and Puerto Rico payroll
• Expertise in earnings, deductions, tax setup, retro pay, and payroll costing
• Experience managing end-to-end payroll setup, testing, and validation
• Strong understanding of payroll compliance, taxation, and wage and hour laws
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills
• Strong stakeholder communication skills
• Workday Payroll certification preferred
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting multi-country or large-scale payroll operations
• Familiarity with Workday integrations such as financial systems, payroll vendors, or tax authorities
• Understanding of parallel testing, audit controls, and payroll reporting frameworks
