The Role:Specialist - GL Controls - Record to Report

The Team: Be part of a global Record to Report team and collaborate with domestic and international retained staff, third parties, all global business units, technology teams, and the Controllers organization, focusing on achieving team and company objectives.

The Impact: This position will assist the GL Controls Manager with GL controls tasks. Responsibilities include monitoring and oversight of the manual journal approval workflow, suspense account analysis, unposted review/analysis, and external interface monitoring throughout each monthly close. The candidate will assist with the upload of Oracle General Ledger manual journals during critical monthly close days and provide guidance on journal preparation and error analysis as necessary.

From Workday six to Workday twelve, the candidate will perform GL controls reconciliations and work closely with the Business Finance/Controllers teams to complete reconciliations that meet policy requirements. The candidate should be proactive in clearing reconciliation items in a timely manner. Understanding subsystems such as Oracle (R12) GL, AR, AP Modules, ARCS reconciliation tool, and any legacy systems affecting the GL module is essential to ensure a continuously effective end-to-end process. Adherence to accounting, audit, systems controls, and procedures is required to ensure compliance with corporate policies and SOX controls.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly Treasury to Oracle General Ledger rate verification analysis.
  • Monitor GL Journal Approval Pending report daily during the close.
  • Monitor Suspense Account Analysis report daily during the close.
  • Monitor Unposted (MHC Journal in Progress) report daily during the close.
  • Monitor External Interface report daily during the close.
  • Support the Global General Ledger Controls Manager with internal and external audit requests related to Oracle General Ledger Controls.
  • Complete assigned General Ledger reconciliations from Workday six to Workday twelve within the reconciliation deadline.
  • Coordinate with respective account owners to clear reconciling items promptly and provide audit support related to reconciliations.
  • Assist in reviewing the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to Genpact.
  • Provide backup and support to other accountants in the team.
  • Collaborate closely with the TCS technical team to ensure GL controls function properly and test Oracle enhancements and projects.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of accounting and reconciliation experience in a multinational corporate environment.
  • College-level Accounting degree preferred.
  • Experience with Oracle R12/Fusion and system maintenance preferred.
  • Willingness to learn new and legacy systems at a fast pace.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to interact and collaborate with internal and external customers at all management levels globally.
  • Skills in dealing with offshore partners and communication.
  • High degree of accuracy and management of a heavy workload; understanding of contributions to the overall end-to-end process; possess a global perspective of how functions impact the company.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, specifically Outlook, Excel, Access, and Word.
  • Assertive in following up on issue resolution; ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to work independently, be accountable for processes/tasks performed, and recognize when an issue should be escalated to management.
  • This position requires working US shifts, with 100% of the time spent working in the office.

Working Hours:
5:30 PM IST to 2:30 AM IST
