Job Description

The Project Manager will act as the primary point of contact for customers, subcontractors, utility companies, and internal teams. You will ensure projects stay on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all permitting and utility requirements. This is

not

a software/IT project management role—it is a hands-on operations position in the solar/construction industry.

Project Coordination & Oversight

  • Manage the entire solar project lifecycle—from contract close to PTO.
  • Create and maintain project timelines, ensuring all tasks meet deadlines.
  • Coordinate with design, permitting, installation, and inspection teams to keep projects moving forward.

Customer Communication

  • Serve as the main point of contact for customers, providing regular updates.
  • Address customer concerns and resolve issues quickly to maintain satisfaction.

Vendor & Crew Management

  • Schedule and coordinate subcontractors and internal crews for site visits, installations, and inspections.
  • Verify quality of work and ensure adherence to company and industry standards.

Permitting & Utility Coordination

  • Submit and track permits with city/county building departments.
  • Manage interconnection applications and communicate with utility providers.

Quality Control & Compliance

  • Review installation photos and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure all work complies with NEC codes, AHJ requirements, and utility guidelines.

Post-Install & PTO

  • Oversee final inspections and resolve any deficiencies.
  • Ensure system activation, monitoring setup, and timely PTO approval

Requirements

Required:

  • 2+ years of experience in solar, construction, or related project management.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Familiarity with permitting processes and utility coordination.
  • Proficiency in project tracking software (Asana, Trello, Monday.com, or similar).

Preferred:

  • Experience with PG&E, SCE, or other California utility processes.
  • Knowledge of NEC code and solar installation best practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
