Job Title: Software Engineering Manager Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka (On-site) Work Type: Full-Time About the Role We are looking for an experienced and passionate Software Engineering Manager to lead our backend engineering team. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality software solutions that power our cloud-based eCommerce platform. This role combines technical leadership with people management, providing an opportunity to mentor engineers, influence architecture decisions, and work cross-functionally to build scalable and secure backend systems. Key Responsibilities Lead, manage, and mentor a team of backend software engineers. Architect, design, and develop scalable backend services, APIs, and data services that support core eCommerce functionality (e.g., checkout, user experience, product discovery). Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Frontend, DevOps, and QA to ensure smooth and timely product delivery. Drive engineering best practices including code quality, automated testing, and continuous integration. Manage project scope, timelines, resource allocation, and deliverables aligned with business goals. Conduct regular code reviews, ensure architectural alignment, and guide technical decisions. Recruit and retain top engineering talent while fostering an inclusive and engaging team environment. Promote continuous improvement in development tools, processes, and team culture. Identify risks and technical bottlenecks, and drive timely resolution. Mandatory Requirements Minimum 5+ years of professional software development experience. Minimum 2+ years of experience in a people management or team leadership role. Strong hands-on experience in at least one backend programming language (Java, Python, or Golang). Prior experience working in a product-based company, preferably in the eCommerce domain. Proven track record of delivering backend systems and microservices at scale. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies and DevOps best practices. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Experience with recruiting and building high-performance engineering teams.
