About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Software Engineering Manager to lead our backend engineering team. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality software solutions that power our cloud-based eCommerce platform. This role combines technical leadership with people management, providing an opportunity to mentor engineers, influence architecture decisions, and work cross-functionally to build scalable and secure backend systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and mentor a team of backend software engineers.
• Architect, design, and develop scalable backend services, APIs, and data services that support core eCommerce functionality (e.g., checkout, user experience, product discovery).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Frontend, DevOps, and QA to ensure smooth and timely product delivery.
• Drive engineering best practices including code quality, automated testing, and continuous integration.
• Manage project scope, timelines, resource allocation, and deliverables aligned with business goals.
• Conduct regular code reviews, ensure architectural alignment, and guide technical decisions.
• Recruit and retain top engineering talent while fostering an inclusive and engaging team environment.
• Promote continuous improvement in development tools, processes, and team culture.
• Identify risks and technical bottlenecks, and drive timely resolution.

Mandatory Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
• Strong hands-on experience in at least one backend programming language (Java, Python, or Golang).
• Prior experience working in a product-based company, preferably in the eCommerce domain.
• Proven track record of delivering backend systems and microservices at scale.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies and DevOps best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with recruiting and building high-performance engineering teams.
