Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Execution

• Supervise and manage daily site operations for steel structural fabrication, erection, and piping works.
• Ensure execution according to approved drawings, project specifications, and schedules.
• Monitor manpower, equipment, tools, and material requirements on-site.
• Coordinate and execute shutdown/breakdown maintenance, ensuring rapid restoration of operations.
• Support planning and monitoring of project timelines and budgets.

2. Team Management

• Lead and manage site personnel, including supervisors, foremen, welders, fitters, riggers, and subcontractors .
• Allocate daily tasks and monitor performance to ensure productivity, quality, and timely completion.
• Conduct daily briefings/toolbox talks to communicate work plans, hazards, and safety instructions.

3. Quality & Safety Compliance

• Ensure strict adherence to

  HSE (Health, Safety & Environment)

  standards and company safety policies.
• Monitor site conditions and enforce the use of

  PPE, PTW (Permit to Work), LOTO

  , and work-at-height procedures.
• Coordinate with

  QA/QC teams

  for inspections, weld checks, measurement verification, and documentation.

4. Coordination & Reporting

• Coordinate with project management, client representatives, consultants, and other departments for smooth execution.
• Prepare and submit

  daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports

  .
• Identify and report site issues, deviations, or risks to the Project Manager, recommending corrective actions.

5. Shutdown/Breakdown Management

• Plan and execute shutdown and turnaround maintenance per approved schedules.
• Ensure all materials, tools,equipment, lifting devices, and manpower are arranged prior to shutdown work.
• Coordinate with maintenance and production teams for safe isolation and restarting of equipment.
• Manage emergency breakdown repairs efficiently to minimize downtime and restore operations quickly.

6. Planning & Scheduling

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly work plans.
• Track project progress versus schedule and initiate corrective actions for delays.
• Monitor progress billing, measurement sheets (MBO), and site change requests.

7. Equipment & System Responsibilities (as per project scope)

• Conveyor and material handling systems
• Blast furnace / sinter plant equipment
• Rolling mill machinery erection
• Hydraulic and lubrication systems
• Pumps, blowers, tanks, valves, and industrial piping
• Heavy structural erection (platforms, pipe racks, supports)

Required Qualifications

Education:

• Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Experience:

• 8-13 years in mechanical construction at

  steel plants

  or heavy industrial projects.
• Hands-on experience in

  erection, fabrication, maintenance, welding, alignment, and commissioning

  .
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques.
• Proven track record of successfully managing construction projects under pressure and tight deadlines.

Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of mechanical fabrication and erection.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of lifting plans, rigging, and heavy equipment handling.
• Understanding of QA/QC procedures and NDT methods.
• Familiarity with steel plant machinery and utility systems.

Soft Skills:

• Leadership and team supervision.
